"18 hours before the crest of the storm"
 Author:
 Format:
B/w photograph; 8.0 x 13.0 cm
Description:  "An amateur snapshot, taken at 7:30 Aug. 16 when the wind was still N.E. and the waves had to travel against it.  Crude as this picture is, and in spite of the facts that the waves do not seem high nor dashing against the wall, the sea here does look angry.  This was 18 hours before the crest of the storm, and it got steadily worse all the time.  The picture of the Vogel home was taken from about the same place as this."
